German Chocolate Pie Filling
- 4 cups milk
- 1 12 cups sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 34 cup cornstarch
- 5 egg yolks
- 38-34 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 12 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup coconut
- 1 cup pecans
- 4 cups stiff whipping cream
- chocolate syrup (to color)
- 13 cup coconut
- 13 cup pecans
- Heat milk to scald.
- Mix sugar, salt and cornstarch in a bowl,add dry ingredients to milk and stir constantly.
- Add one cup of hot mixture to egg yolks and stir.
- Add back to remaining milk and bring back to boiling for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Cook until thick.
- Add unmelted butter, vanilla, coconut, chocolate chips and pecans.
- Stir until one color.
- Cool shortly and put into 9-inch baked pie shell.
- *****Topping*****.
- Mix whipping cream with chocolate syrup to color.
- Add coconut and pecans.
- Pile high on pie.
- Decorate with chocolate syrup.
