Mina Pachter's Gesundheits Kuchen

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Grease and lightly flour a tube pan.
  3. Beat the yolks well.
  4. Add the sugar, beating well again.
  5. Add the cooled butter, almonds and almond extract, and mix well.
  6. Fold in the flour, baking powder, salt, lemon rind and milk.
  7. Beat the egg whites until stiff but not dry, and fold in.
  8. Pour into the greased pan, and bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean.
  9. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out and cool completely.
  10. Sprinkle the top with confectioners' sugar.
