Basic Turkey Preparation

  1. Saute onion and celery in butter.
  2. Prepare stuffing according to package.
  3. Mix all together and cool (so you can handle it).
  4. Remove neck & gizzards from turkey (usually is a package tucked inside).
  5. Stuff what you can of the stuffing into the bird cavity as well as the neck end.
  6. Rub entire bird with generous amount of miracle whip or mayo.
  7. Bake uncovered at 375 degrees (200 C.) for about an hour (This will brown the skin nicely).
  8. Cover with lid or foil.
  9. Reduce heat to 325 degrees (175 C.) for the rest of the cooking time.
  10. 1/2 hour per pound, approximately.
