Hearty Hamburger Soup Recipe
- 1 pound grnd beef
- 2 cans beef broth soup
- 3 c. water
- 1 can (16 ounce.) tomatoes, cut up
- 2 med. onions, minced (1 c.)
- 2 med. carrots, sliced (1 c.)
- 2 stalks celery, minced (1 c.)
- 1/3 c. pearl barley
- 1/4 c. catsup
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon dry basil
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Brown beef in large saucepan, stirring slightly to break up larger pcs.
- Drain off excess fat.
- Add in water, undrained tomatoes, onion, carrot, celery, barley, catsup, salt, canned soup and bay leaf.
- Bring to a boil and simmer for 1 hour or possibly till vegetables are tender.
- Season to taste and remove bay leaf.
- Do not let the name fool you, this is tasty!
