Stuffed Burgers Italiani

  1. In mixing bowl, combine garlic, red onion, tomato, bell pepper, basil, & oregano.
  2. Cover with plastic wrap and set aside.
  3. In separate mixing bowl, combine meat, egg, salt, pepper, & Worcestershire sauce.
  4. Shape meat into eight very thin patties.
  5. Spoon 1 Tbsp of vegetable mixture in center of 4 patties.
  6. Place other 4 patties on top of topped patties.
  7. Flatten and press edges together to seal.
  8. In skillet, heat oil over medium heat and saute 1/2 the vidalia onions until golden.
  9. Set aside & keep warm.
  10. In skillet, cook meat 5-8 minutes each side, to desired doneness.
  11. Top with mozzarella cheese.
  12. Return browned onions to skillet and warm.
  13. Serve hamburgers open faced, topped with browned onions and desired condiments.
