Old Fashioned Biscuits for 45
- 6 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup milk powder
- 1/4 cup baking powder
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 2 cups shortening
- 1-1/2 cup Water (or more if needed)
- Mix dry ingredients together with fork.
- Cut in shortening with pastry blender.
- Stir in about 1 1/2 cups water.
- If dry add 1/4 cup more.
- Turn onto floured surface, knead 8 to 10 times.
- Roll dough 3/4 inch thick.
- Cut with biscuit cutter.
- Do not twist with biscuit cutter, just straight down and up.
- This will make them puff up more.
- Bake at 400 F. for 20-25 minutes.
- Makes 452-inch biscuits.
