Cheesy Tater Tot Casserole
- 1/2 Yellow Onion, Finely Diced
- 1 pound Ground Beef
- 3 cups Warm Milk
- 6 Tablespoons Butter
- 6 Tablespoons Flour
- 3 cups Mild Cheddar Cheese, Grated
- 1/2 teaspoons Salt
- 1/4 teaspoons Pepper
- 1 cup French Fried Onions
- 32 ounces, weight Bag Of Tater Tots
- Preheat oven to 350 F.
- Place diced onion and ground beef into a skillet and cook over medium heat until beef is thoroughly cooked.
- Drain excess grease from skillet and set aside.
- Warm the milk in a saucepan over medium low heat or in the microwave.
- You dont want to boil it, just get it hot.
- Heat in the microwave for 60 seconds then for additional 30 seconds as needed.
- set aside.
- Melt butter in medium saucepan over medium heat.Once the butter is melted, add flour and mix constantly for 2 minutes.
- Add warm milk into the saucepan.
- Using a whisk, stir milk and butter/flour mixture together until sauce slightly thickens (3 to 4 minutes).
- Remove from heat and add grated cheese, salt and pepper.
- Mix until cheese has melted.
- In a large bowl, combine beef and onions, cheese sauce, french fried onions and frozen tater tots.
- Lightly spray a 9 x 13 pan with non-stick cooking spray and pour contents of bowl into pan.
- Bake for 45 minutes to an hour until casserole starts to become bubbly.
