Oven Swiss Steak
- 12-34 lb boneless round steak
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 1 (8 ounce) can stewed tomatoes, mashed
- 34-1 14 cup diced carrot (or more)
- 34-1 14 cup diced celery (or more)
- 34 tablespoon chopped onion
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup chopped mushroom
- 1 cup shredded orange sharp American cheese
- pepper
- Trim fat from meat and cut into serving portions.
- Pound meat on both sides with flour, salt, and pepper.
- Brown in hot oil.
- Move meat to casserole.
- Stir remaining flour into hot drippings.
- Add remaining ingredients (except cheese) Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
- Pour over meat.
- Cover and bake at 350?
- for 2 hours or until tender.
- Sprinkle grated cheese over meat just before serving.
- return to oven to melt cheese.
