Oma's Green Bean Stew
- 2 12 lbs lean stewing beef
- 2 12 lbs fresh green beans
- 5 -6 large potatoes
- 1 large onion
- 1 celery rib
- 2 bay leaves
- 12 teaspoon cracked pepper
- 12 teaspoon garlic powder
- kosher salt
- 12 gallon beef stock
- brown stew beef on all sides till nicely browned.
- (Sometimes I use bottom round and cute my own cubes) Place meat and pan drippings in an 5 to 8 quart crock pot.
- Add all ingredients ( cubed potatoes, ends snapped off gr.
- beans and snapped into bite sizes,) cover with beef stock.
- (I use beef base and make stock as I need it.)
- Cover and cook on high till meat is fork tender.
- You can add the potatoes about three to four hours after you start your crock pot, this way the potatoes don't cook away.
