Cherry Chocolate Kiss Cookies
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 tsp maraschino cherry juice
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
- 2 1/4 cup flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup maraschino cherries, drained and chopped
- 48 chocolate kisses, unwrapped
- Heat oven to 350.
- In a large bowl combine sugar, butter, cherry juice and almond extract.
- Blend well.
- Add flour and salt.
- Stir in cherries.
- Shape dough into 1 inch balls.
- Place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
- Immediately top each cookie with a chocolate kiss, pressing down firmly.
- Remove from cookie sheet.
- Cool completely, until chocolate kisses are set.
