Custard Tarts Recipe

  1. Sift flour and salt.
  2. Rub in the butter till mix resembles fine bread crumbs.
  3. Stir in 1 Tbsp.
  4. sugar and vanilla essence.
  5. Fold in just sufficient cool water to make a stiff dough.
  6. Roll out the pastry and cut out 8 (3 inch) circles and fit into greased patty tins (the bottom half of muffin pans would do).
  7. Beat the egg with 1 Tbsp.
  8. sugar and the lowfat milk.
  9. Pour into pastry cases and sprinkle with nutmeg.
  10. Bake in the center of a 400 degree oven for 20 min, or possibly till custard is set and pastry cooked through.
  11. Eat cool the same day.
