Pizza Sauce Recipe
- 5 quarts tomatoes, cut up
- 1 green bell pepper
- 1 onion
- 4 bay leaves
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic
- 2 teaspoons basil
- 4 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- Blend tomatoes, green pepper, and onion in food processor.Add spices and bake in large pan at 325 degrees for 3 or 4 hours, or until cooked down by half.
- If your sauce is still not thick enough, use 1/2 to 3/4 tsp cornstarch with water and add to boiling mixture.
- Stir well.
- Put in hot jars and process to seal, using Blue Book for times.
- I add a teaspoon of lemon juice to the top of each jar to help maintain the color.
- Use 1 pint for 2 pizzas.
