Tex's Devil's Cut Bourbon BBQ Sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup apple juice
- 1 1/2 tbsp tomato puree
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 2 tsp black treacle or molasses
- 1 tsp hot mustard
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 pinch red pepper flakes
- 2 tbsp bourbon (Jim Beam Devil's Cut)
- Mix all the ingredients except for the bourbon.
- Bring to the boil then simmer and cook for 3-4 minutes on the hob, or microwave on full power for 1 1/2 minutes
- Remove from the heat and stir in the bourbon
- Allow to cool so that all the flavours merge into the sauce.
- Stir well
- Keep in the refrigerator until ready to use.
- Use as a marinade or a table sauce on your favourite BBQ meats
- Serve mixed with a tin of baked beans with my fried chicken recipe
