crockpot sausage gumbo
- 1/2 cup water
- 3 lb spicy sausage sliced
- 1 1/2 cup brown rice
- 32 oz vegetable stock
- 1 large onion chopped
- 1 each red and green bell peppers chopped
- 2 lb sliced okra
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 3 celery stalks
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes
- slice sausage in quarter inch pieces
- also cut ends off of okra and cut in quarter inch pieces
- cut ends off celery and chop in quarter inch pieces
- wash remaining veggies and chop
- add all ingredients to crock pot and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours
- 6 hours might do it but you have to make sure that the rice is completely cooked
