Apple Cinnamon Squares
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 12 cup margarine, softened
- 1 cup english walnuts, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 12 teaspoon baking soda
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup low-fat sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla (you can use amaretto in place of vanilla if you like)
- 12 cup morning star farms better 'n egg (you can use real eggs if you prefer...2 eggs)
- 2 cups apples, peeled and finely chopped
- In large bowl combine flour, brown sugar, margarine and walnuts and mix well.
- Press 2 3/4 c of the mixture firmly into an ungreased 9x13 pan.
- Add remaining ingredients to mixture left in bowl and blend well.
- Spread this mixture over what was pressed into the pan.
- Bake at 350 for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Serve warm sprinkled with powdered sugar or cool whip.
- (I used the french vanilla flavor of cool whip).
