Spiced Date Mille Feuille
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- date jam
- 1/3 cup caster sugar
- 1/3 cup water
- 2 tablespoons coffee-flavoured liqueur
- 1 cup dates
- Philly Filling
- 250g block PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- rind of 1/2 orange Safeway 1 lb For $0.79 thru 02/09
- 1 tablespoon orange juice
- icing sugar, to serve
- Cut the puff pastry sheets in half then each half into four to give 8 rectangles.
- Place pastry onto a greased oven tray.
- Bake at 200C for 6 minutes or until golden brown.
- Turn onto a wire rack to cool.
- Cut in half horizontally.
- Combine the sugar and water over heat until the sugar dissolves.
- Add the liqueur and dates, reduced heat to low, cover dates with non stick paper and cook for 15 minutes or until soft.
- Stir mix until almost a paste and allow to cool.
- Spread date jam evenly over the 8 pastry bases.
- Combine Philly* filling ingredients and spread evenly over jam.
- Top with the pastry lids.
- Dust with icing sugar to serve.
