Homemade French Fried Onions

  1. Mix together the salt, thyme, 13 cup flour, paprika and garlic powder in a largish bowl.
  2. Add sliced onion, cover with a plate and toss to coat.
  3. Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the onion along with any remaining flour mixture and cook, turning once or twice, until golden and crispy, about 5 to 15 minutes depending on how crispy you like your french fried onions.
  5. Use atop your favorite casserole or anywhere you might use french fried onions.
  6. They're pretty tasty on their own too.
