Texas-Made Phillies
- 1 package Fresh, Crusty Hoagie Rolls
- 1 pound Top Sirloin Steak, Tenderized
- 2 Tablespoons Coarse Steak Seasoning, Any Kind
- 1 whole Green Bell Pepper
- 1 cup Thinly Sliced Sweet Onion
- 1 cup Regular Mayonnaise
- 2 Tablespoons Dijon Mustard
- 1 package Smoked Provolone Or Pepper Jack Cheese
- Butter, For Toasting
- Oil, For Grilling Or Pan Frying
- I use my stovetop grill pan to grill the steaks inside, but I have also pan-fried them.
- They are great either way!
- Season the steaks evenly with the coarse steak seasoning.
- Brush your grill pan with oil or add 2 tablespoons of canola or olive oil to your pan.
- Grill steaks until medium well or to your liking.
- I usually cut the green bell pepper and onion into large-sized slices and add them to the grill pan as well, until they are roasted and still crisp.
- Brush the hoagie rolls with butter and toast them either in the oven or over the top of the grill pan with all the yummy steak brown bits.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the mayo and dijon mustard and mix well.
- Spread a moderate layer onto the crusty rolls.
- Slice the steak against the grain and layer onto toasted rolls, along with the peppers.
- Place 2 slices or half a cup of shredded cheese over the top of the steak slices.
- Place them back into the oven until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Bake up a mess of crispy oven wedge fries and you are set!
- Enjoy!
