Moroccan sauce for lamb in pitas
- 3/4 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tbsp finely chopped red onion
- 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh dill
- 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh mint
- 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
- 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp ground cumin
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground allspice
- 1/4 tsp coarsely ground black pepper
- 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
- 1/8 tsp shredded saffron threads
- 3 tbsp cold water
- 1 1/4 lb lamd cut into strips 1x3 inches
- 4 pita pockets
- 1 cup torn lettuce
- 1/2 cup diced fresh tomatoes vine ripped for best results
- 1 enough olive oil to coat lamb
- mix the sauce ingredients together set aside
- for seasoning mix heat over medium heat till you can smell the aroma of the mix add to cold water wisk well set aside
- add seasoning mix to lamb before grilling
- grill lamb to your desired doneness
- assemble the lamb lettuce tomatoes into pita add Moroccan sauce enjoy.
- note you can substitute the lamb with ground lamb patties
