Walnut Fudge Brownies

  1. Heat oven to 350F Line 13x9-inch pan with foil; grease bottom only.
  2. In small bowl, beat egg whites, cream of tartar and salt until stiff peaks form;.
  3. set aside.
  4. In large bowl using same beaters, beat butter until fluffy.
  5. Gradually add 1 1/2 cups sugar; beat well.
  6. Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  7. Dissolve 1 teaspoons instant coffee in hot water.
  8. Add dissolved coffee, melted chocolate, and vanilla to butter mixture; blend well, Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off.
  9. Add flour; mix well.
  10. Stir in walnuts.
  11. Fold in beaten egg whites, Spread in prepared pan.
  12. Bake at 350F for 30-35 minutes or until set.
  13. Do not overbake.
  14. Cool completely.
  15. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  16. For easy removal from pan, carefully lift brownies by foil lining,.
  17. Cut into bars.
