Fruit Dumplings

  1. Mix cornstarch, sugar and salt in large saucepan.
  2. Gradually stir in reserved fruit syrup plus enough water to measure 1 1/2 cups liquid.
  3. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils.
  4. Boil and stir 1 minute.
  5. Stir in fruit, lemon peel, lemon juice and cinnamon.
  6. Keep hot while preparing dumplings.
  7. Stir remaining ingredients to a soft dough.
  8. Drop dough by 6 spoonfuls onto boiling fruit mixture.
  9. Cook uncovered over low heat 10 minutes; cover and cook 10 minutes longer.
