Apple, Sausage, Walnut Stuffing Recipe

  1. In a large skillet saute the sausage until lightly browned, breaking up the sausage into bite size pieces.
  2. Remove the sausage from the skillet, drain drippings.
  3. Place the drained sausage into a large bowl.
  4. In the same skillet over medium heat, melt butter.
  5. Add sage, thyme, celery and onions.
  6. Saute for 5-7 minutes until onion is tender.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in salt, pepper, Parmesan cheese and parsley.
  8. Mix well.
  9. Add bread, walnuts and apples to the sausage, then stir in the sausage mixture.
  10. Mix well.
  11. Add chicken stock to the mixture to moisten.
  12. Mix well.
  13. Place the stuffing in a greased 3-4 qt, greased (butter) baking dish.
  14. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
  15. Uncover and bake an additional 10-15 minutes until lightly browned.
  16. May also be stuffed in 18-22 lb.Turkey.
