Cornbread Country-Style

  1. Preheat oven to 425F.
  2. Lightly oil a 9 x 6-inch pan with vegetable oil.
  3. In a large bowl combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  4. In a medium bowl, combine milk, vegetable oil, and egg.
  5. Pour liquid mixture into dry ingredients and stir just to combine.
  6. Do not over mix.
  7. Pour mix into pan.
  8. Bake 15 to 20 minutes until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
