Southern Chicken Fried Steak

  1. Place steak pieces in ice water.
  2. Let stand at least 30 minutes or more.
  3. Take out steaks, but do not drain.
  4. Salt and pepper.
  5. Coat generously with flour.
  6. Fry in hot oil or shortening at medium high heat till golden brown on both sides.
  7. Serve with gravy made from pan drippings, flour and milk.
