Dorothea's Hash Brown Quiche

  1. Grease a 9" pie plate with shortening.
  2. Press hash browns between paper towels to absorb moisture.
  3. Then line pie plate with hash browns to make a solid crust of potatoes.
  4. Brush with melted butter and bake 25 minutes at 425 degrees.
  5. Fill baked crust with layers of cheese and ham.
  6. Beat cream with eggs and seasoning and pour over top.
  7. Return to oven and reduce heat to 350 degrees.
  8. Bake until knife inserted comes out clean or about 30-40 minutes.
