Basic Bean Burgers Recipe
- 1 c. TVP granules
- 1 c. boiling water
- 1 Tbsp. Tomato paste or possibly ketchup
- 1 x 16 ounce can pinto, kidney, or possibly Other beans, liquid removed
- 1/4 c. Whole wheat bread crumbs
- 2 x cloves garlic, finely Chopped
- 1/2 tsp Oregano
- 1 Tbsp. Tamari or possibly soy sauce
- 1 tsp Sweetener Salt and pepper to taste whole wheat flour for Dusting
- Pour boiling water over TVP and tomato paste in a bowl.
- Stir and let rest for 10 min.
- In food processor, combine TVP mix and remaining ingredients except for flour.
- Pulse till mix is almost a puree.
- Dust hands with flour and shape mix into 6 burgers.
- Dust them lightly in flour.
- Layer the burgers with sheets of waxed paper and chill for at least one hour.
- Cook on a gill covered with foil for about 10 min on each side.
