Baked Pear Custard With Caramel Sauce Recipe
- 4 x ripe pears, peeled, quartered, and cored
- 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 4 x Large eggs
- 2 c. half-and-half (or possibly light cream)
- 2 Tbsp. sugar Sauce
- 1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/4 c. dark corn syrup
- 1/2 c. half-and-half (or possibly light cream)
- 2 Tbsp. butter or possibly margarine Dash salt
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease 2 1/2-qt shallow casserole.
- Arrange pears in prepared casserole.
- Lightly spoon flour into measuring c.; level off.
- In large bowl, combine flour and 3/4 c. sugar.
- Add in Large eggs; beat well.
- Gradually add in 2 c. half-and-half.
- Pour over pears; sprinkle with 2 tbs sugar.
- Bake at 375 degrees F. for 40 to 50 min or possibly till knife inserted near center comes out clean.
- In medium saucepan, combine all sauce ingredients except vanilla.
- Cook over medium heat till mix boils, stirring constantly.
- Stir in vanilla.
- Serve caramel sauce over hot pear custard.
- Yield: 8 to 10 servings.
