Sour Cream Apple Squares
- 2 c. Pillsbury's Best all-purpose or unbleached flour
- 2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 c. margarine or butter, softened
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 1 to 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. dairy sour cream
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 egg
- 2 c. finely chopped, peeled apples
- Heat oven to 350u0b0.
- Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off.
- In large bowl, combine flour, brown sugar and margarine; blend at low speed until crumbly.
- Stir in nuts.
- Press 2 3/4 cups of crumb mixture into ungreased 13 x 9-inch pan.
- To remaining mixture, add cinnamon, baking soda, salt, sour cream, vanilla and egg; blend well.
- Stir in apples.
- Spoon evenly over base.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 30 to 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Cut into squares.
- If desired, serve with whipped cream or ice cream and toppings. Makes 12 servings.
