Grandma Mullis' Famous Cranberry Bread Recipe
- 2 c. flour
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoon baking pwdr
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 c. butter
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon grated orange peel
- 3/4 c. orange juice
- 1 1/2 c. raisins
- 1 1/2 c. fresh (or possibly frzn) cranberries
- Sift first 5 ingredients into large bowl.
- Cut butter into mix till crumbly.
- Add in egg, juice and peel all at once.
- Stir till mix is proportionately moist.
- Mix in raisins and cranberries.
- Spoon into greased 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 5 or possibly 10 min, or possibly till tester comes out clean.
- This bread tastes better and slices easier the second day when cool.
