Biscochitos New Mexican cookies Recipe DebitNM

  1. Sift flour with baking powder and salt.
  2. Cream shortening with sugar 1 and 1/2 cups and anise seeds until fluffy
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time.
  4. Mix in flour 1 cup at a time and brandy until well blended.
  5. Turn dough out on a floured board and pat or roll to 1/4 to 1/2 inch thickness.
  6. Cut into circles, 2 -3 inches wide, using cookie cutter.
  7. Dust with a mixture of 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon.
  8. Bake at 350 degrees F (180 degrees C) 10 12 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Cool on rack.
