Philly Cheese Steak Melts
- 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
- 1 whole Large Vidalia Onion, Thinly Sliced
- Salt
- 1 loaf Crusty French Or Italian Bread Sliced Lengthwise
- 1/2 cups Au Jus, From A Mix Or Jar (I Had Some Frozen)
- 1/2 pounds Rare Deli Roast Beef, Thinly Sliced And Chopped
- Black Pepper
- 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Jack Cheese
- Heat oil in a large pan over medium high heat.
- Add onion and sprinkle with salt.
- Lower heat to medium low and let carmelize about 20 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Add bread face up to a baking sheet and toast in oven for about 10 minutes.
- When onions are nice and brown, add au jus and roast beef.
- Sprinkle with pepper.
- Give it a stir.
- Heat for 5 minutes then remove bread from oven and start your assembly.
- Spoon the meat and onion mixture with sauce on top of bread.
- Sprinkle with cheese and return to oven until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Slice into pieces and enjoy!
