Layer-Lettuce Salad

  1. Use a 13 x 9-inch Pyrex dish.
  2. Shred lettuce at least 1/2 dish full.
  3. Layer each of the following:
  4. celery, green peppers, spring onions, peas and water chestnuts.
  5. Spread over top at least 1 cup Kraft Miracle Whip dressing, more if desired or you may use mayonnaise.
  6. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon sugar over Miracle Whip.
  7. Use enough Cheddar cheese (shredded) to cover dish or salad.
  8. Fry crisp, 8 to 10 strips bacon, fried crisp and crumbled.
  9. Sprinkle over cheese.
  10. Refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving.
