texas brownies
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 12-1 cup butter
- 12 cup shortening
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee
- 14 cup dark unsweetened cocoa
- 12 cup buttermilk
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 12-1 cup butter
- 2 tablespoons dark cocoa
- 14 cup milk
- 3 12 cups unsifted powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- in large mixing bowl, combine flour and sugar.
- in heavy saucepan, combine butter,shortening,coffee and cocoa.
- stir and heat to boiling.
- pour boiling mixture over the flour and sugar in bowl.
- add buttermilk,eggs,baking soda& vanilla.
- mix will,using wooden spoon or on high sprrd electric mixer.
- pour into well buttered 85 1/2 by 11 inch jelly roll pan.
- bake at 400F degrees for 20 minutes or until brownies test done in center.
- while brownies bake, prepare the frosting.
- in saucepan,combine butter,cocoa and milk.
- heat to boiling,stirring.
- mix in powdered sugar and vanilla stir until smooth.
- pour warm frosting over brownies as soon as you take them out of the oven.
- cool.
