Date-Nut Bread

  1. Mix nuts, dates, soda, salt and butter.
  2. Add boiling water and let stand for 20 minutes.
  3. Beat eggs; add flavoring, sugar and flour.
  4. Combine with date mixture.
  5. Bake in a greased and floured 9 x 5 x 3-inch pan at 350u0b0 for 1 hour.
  6. (You may also divide and bake in smaller greased and floured pans.)
  7. Take pan from oven; let sit for 5 minutes.
  8. Cut around sides and turn out.
  9. Wrap in foil.
  10. When cool, put in refrigerator to chill before slicing; cut with a wet knife.
  11. Whip cream cheese, a little milk and vanilla.
  12. Spread on bread to make a sandwich and cut in triangles.
