Gradmas Spaghetti Sauce
- 1 pound Italian Sausage Links
- 1 clove Garlic
- 3/4 cups Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1 cup Diced Onion
- 1 cup Diced Green Bell Pepper
- 1 pound Lean Ground Beef
- 1 jar Prego Traditional Italian Sauce (24 Oz. Jar)
- 1 can Petite Cut Diced Tomatoes With Green Chiles (14.5 Oz Can)
- 1 can Mushroom Stems And Pieces (6-8 Oz. Can)
- 2- 1/2 teaspoons Salt
- Cut Italian sausage links into 1 inch thick slices.
- Finely slice garlic clove into small, thin pieces.
- Heat a stock pot with the oil to medium heat.
- Once oil is hot add diced onions, diced peppers and sliced garlic clove.
- Cook for roughly 6-8 minutes, or until onions are light brown.
- Add ground beef (leave as ground) and sausage slices to sauteed onions/peppers/garlic mixture and cook until meat is browned.
- Then drain off any grease and return pot to the heat.
- Stir in traditional Italian sauce, petite cut diced tomatoes, mushrooms (not drained) and salt.
- Reduce heat to low and allow to simmer 4-6 hours (stirring occasionally) for optimal taste.
- Serves 4-5 but can be adjusted for larger crowds.
- Works best with whole wheat noodles and garlic stick bread.
