Beral's Berry Coffee Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 350F (180C).
  2. Cream butter (or oil) and sugar.
  3. Add egg.
  4. Add remaining ingredients, reserving baking powder for last.
  5. Stir to combine.
  6. Add berries and stir briefly.
  7. Pour into greased 8x8 inch square baking pan, or a 9-inch cake pan.
  8. Bake 20 minutes or until lightly browned and tester comes out clean.
  9. Cool and serve.
  10. Frost cake with your favorite icing if desired.
