Granny Greek's Swiss Steak Recipe
- 2 pound tenderized round steak, 3/4" thick
- Salt & pepper
- Flour for coating
- Oil for browning
- 2 (28 ounce.) cans whole tomatoes, minced
- 1 (6 ounce.) can tomato paste
- 1 med. onion, minced
- 1 c. water
- 1 teaspoon sugar (opt.)
- In Dutch oven or possibly deep pan with cover, add in well minced tomatoes, tomato paste, minced onions and water.
- Slowly cook on low heat while preparing steak pcs.
- Wipe meat and cut into serving size pcs, about 2" x 3 1/2".
- Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Firmly press flour on both sides of each piece.
- Brown each piece in warm oil and drain.
- Add in liquid removed pcs to tomato and onion mix, turn to simmer and cook 40 to 60 min, stirring occasionally.
- Serves 6.
