Red Sausage Aliens for Bento

  1. Cut a sausage in half diagonally.
  2. Slice off a circular part of the skin to make a face.
  3. Make 3 cuts, as shown in the diagram, to create the arms and legs.
  4. It's easiest to use a small pair of scissors to make the cuts.
  5. Cook in the toaster oven until the arms and legs open up a bit.
  6. Or you can boil them and the arms and legs will curl up even more.
  7. Whichever way you want.
  8. Stick on a face cut out of nori seaweed.
  9. I tried sitting my martian on a meatball.
  10. I made the cut for his legs too deep though, so he's rather long-legged...
  11. I made demon martians for Setsubun by giving them horns made out of fried spaghetti.
  12. These martians are going back home through a tunnel of white rice.
  13. Say goodbye with this "Bye Bye Sausage Martian Bento"
  14. I made this lunch to support my friend who was performing at a concert.
  15. The martian has a guitar and everything.
  16. Can you see it?
  17. I made this for my friend who often sings and plays the ukelele for me.
  18. You can't really see the ukulele though.
