Maple Syrup and Cranberry Squares
- 1 12 cups flour
- 14 cup brown sugar, packed
- 12 cup softened butter
- 23 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup maple syrup
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 tablespoons dark rum
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup pecans or 1 cup walnuts, chopped
- 14 cup dried cranberries
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Crust : Mix flour and brown sugar then incorporate butter until you have a gritty texture.
- Press the preparation in a buttered pan of 23 cm x 33 cm (9 inch x 13 inch).
- Cook in oven 15 minutes or until crust is golden.
- Set aside.
- Garnish : In a saucepan, bring to boil the brown sugar and maple syrup and let simmer 5 minutes.
- Pour the liquid on the beaten eggs, constantly stirring.
- Add rum, flour and salt.
- Pour this mixture on the crust, then add nuts and cranberries.
- Put back in oven for 20 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and let cool before to cut in squares.
