Keftedes (Greek Meat Balls)
- 1-1/2 lb. ground round steak
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1/2 cup fine, soft breadcrumbs
- 2 md. onions, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tbsp. chopped fresh mint
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. allspice
- Salt and freshly ground pepper
- Shortening for frying
- Combine all the ingredients except the shortening and mix thoroughly.
- Refrigerate for several hours.
- Shape into small balls and fry in the melted shortening.
- Serve hot.
