Eat a Whole Simple Chinese Cabbage Salad
- 1/4 Chinese cabbage
- 2 small packets Bonito flakes
- 1 tbsp Japanese dashi stock powder
- 1 tbsp Sugar
- 1/3 tsp Salt
- 2 1/2-3 tablespoons Mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp Ground sesame seeds
- Roughly chop the cabbage (cut the big leaves lengthwise to start).
- Mix the ingredients marked and set aside.
- Boil the cabbage in plenty of water (boil the core for longer and boil the leaves quickly).
- Drain and when it's cool enough to handle, squeeze out the water.
- In a bowl, combine the cabbage from Step 2 and sprinkle in the ingredients marked .
- Set aside to chill.
- Squeeze out any excess water.
- Add mayonnaise and sesame seeds and mix well.
- Lastly, add the bonito flakes and toss with a pair of chopsticks.
