BAKED MAC'N'CHEESE
- 16 oz elbow macaroni
- 4 tbsp butter
- 4 tbsp flour
- 3 cup milk
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper (optional)
- 4 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/3 cup plain bread crumbs (optional)
- prepare pasta.
- Preheat oven to 400F.
- melt butter in large saucepan, medium-low heat.
- whisk in flour.
- Cook, whisking constantly, 2 minutes.
- whisk in milk for 5 minutes or until thickened.
- reduce heat to low.
- Stir in salt, black pepper, red pepper, 2 cups cheese, and cooked pasta.
- place into greased 9x13 baking dish.
- Top with remaining cheese and bread crumbs.
- bake for 20 minutes.
- Let stand for 10 minutes.
