Peanut Sauce Ii
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger root
- 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 1 1/4 cups water
- 1/4 cup tamari or soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, cut into thin strips
- 3 fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
- Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Stir in onion; cook and stir until the onion has softened and turned translucent, about 5 minutes. Add garlic, jalapeno pepper, and ginger; cook and stir for 2 minutes more.
- Stir in peanut butter, water, tamari, and honey until smooth. Add shredded basil. Heat through, and remove from heat. Garnish with whole basil leaves, if desired.
