Date Kaak Recipe
- 5 pound flour
- 4 c. sugar
- 3 tbsp. mazzaher (orange blossom water)
- 4 tbsp. mahlab black cherry kernel grnd
- 1 tbsp. baking pwdr
- 1 yeast package
- 2 pound clarified butter
- Lowfat milk
- Healthy pinch of salt
- 2 tbsp. anise seed, grnd
- Mix flour, butter, sugar thoroughly.
- Add in mazzaher mahlab and anise seed and salt.
- Mix well.
- Dissolve yeast and baking pwdr in hot lowfat milk.
- Add in lowfat milk mix to flour mix.
- Mix and knead well.
- Add in sufficient lowfat milk till dough is hard, not sticky.
- Allow to rise 2-3 hrs.
- Cover with a towel.
