Homemade Pizza
- 2 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 packages fast acting "instant" dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup very warm water
- 2 tbsp vegetable or olive oil
- 1 tbsp corn meal
- Preheat oven to 400F.
- In large bowl, combine 2 cups flour, yeast, and salt.
- Mix water and oil together and add to flour mixture.
- Stir until ingredients are blended.
- Add in additional flour, stirring until dough pulls away from sides of the bowl.
- Kneading on lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 4 to 6 mins.
- Place bowl over the dough and let rest 10 mins.
- Lightly oil a 14-inch pan (or two 12-inch pans) and sprinkle with corn meal.
- Sprinkle flour on countertop or other flat surface.
- Divide dough in half for 12-inch pizzas.
- Pat dough into 6-inch round.
- Roll to a little bit larger than 14-inch circle or two 12-inch circles.
- Place dough in pans, stretching to cover evenly.
- Crime or fold edges under to form the crust.
- If time permits, let dough rise in pan for 30 mins while preparing topping.
- Select a topping of your choice and scatter evenly over crust beginning with sauce and ending with cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 mins or until crust is golden brown.
