Fried Rice

  1. Rinse and drain the rice.
  2. Bring the water to the boil and add the rice.
  3. Let boil until rice is tender, about 17 minutes.
  4. Drain thoroughly.
  5. Meanwhile, heat 2 tablespoons butter in a heavy saucepan and add onions and almonds.
  6. Stir and cook until mixture is lightly browned.
  7. Add green pepper and ham and cook, stirring, about 5 minutes.
  8. Add the rice to the green pepper mixture and stir in remaining one tablespoon butter, salt and pepper.
  9. Stir to blend well.
  10. Cook 5 minutes, stirring.
