Lewis Family Buckeyes

  1. In large bowl add softened butter, softened peanut butter, and powdered sugar.
  2. Mix with hands until you get a soft moldable dough.
  3. Place 2 large sheets of wax paper on a flat surface.
  4. Roll dough into small quarter size balls.
  5. Then place each ball onto wax paper 1 to 2 inches apart.
  6. After rolling all the dough place a toothpick into the center top of each ball.
  7. In bottom part of double broiler add 1 to 2 cups water.
  8. Turn stove eye on Med-High heat.
  9. Place top part onto double broiler.
  10. Add wax and Hershey bars into top part.
  11. (break Hershey bars into small pieces) Stir until liquefied.
  12. Remove top part of double broiler from stove top.
  13. Take each ball by the toothpick and dip into liquified chocolate.
  14. Leave dime size of ball uncovered by the chocolate around the toothpick.
  15. Then place ball back onto wax paper.
  16. Allow to cool until chocolate is dried.
  17. Once cooled, place in a refrigerated container.
  18. You can stack on top of each other.
  19. Just make sure to separate each layer with wax paper.
  20. Refrigerate or serve.
  21. Enjoy
  22. Yields 4-6 dozen
