Herb Cheese Bread Recipe
- 2 Packages dry yeast
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 1 3/4 c. skim lowfat milk
- 2 1/2 tbsp. sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 6 c. sifted flour
- 2 tbsp. oil
- 2 c. shredded cheddar
- 1/2 teaspoon dill
- 1/2 teaspoon rosemary
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon basil
- Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.
- Mix sugar and lowfat milk together and add in to the yeast.
- To this mix add in salt and 3 c. flour.
- Beat till smooth.
- Add in oil, cheese, and herbs.
- Gradually fold in the remaining flour till dough is stiff sufficient to handle.
- Knead dough till it is smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, turning once to coat all sides, cover with a cloth and let rise in a hot place till double in size.
- Divide into 2 equal parts, shape into loaves and place in two 10 x 5 loaf pans.
- Cover and let rise again till doubled.
- Bake at 425 degrees for 15 min.
- Reduce heat to 375 degrees and continue baking for 30 min longer.
- Remove bread from pans.
- Cold on wire rack.
