Sweet Potato Pecan Pie 1975
- 23 cup white sugar
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 1 12 teaspoons cinnamon
- 12 teaspoon ground ginger
- 12 teaspoon nutmeg
- 14 teaspoon allspice
- 14 teaspoon clove
- 2 large eggs
- 1 12 cups cooked mashed plain sweet potatoes or 1 12 cups pumpkin
- 23 cup evaporated milk
- 12 cup brown sugar
- 6 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 9 inch pie shell
- whipping cream, for garnish,only if desired
- Line pie pan with unbaked crust and flute edges.
- Combine all ingredients for the filling and stir well.
- Pour into pastry lined pan.
- Bake 15 minutes at 425 degrees.
- Bake 30- 35 minutes or until almost done at 350 degrees.
- TEN MINUTES BEFORE pie is completed-- combine pecans, brown sugar, and melted butter.
- Pour over top of pie evenly.
- Bake for the last ten minutes.
