Chocolate Message Cookies
- 2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup butter (2 sticks)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- In a mixing bowl combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, cinnamon and salt.
- Cream butter and brown sugar together.
- Add vanilla and egg; beat until well combined.
- Slowly add in flour mixture in thirds.
- Place dough in a plastic zip lock bag or wrap in plastic wrap and chill for at least 2 hours.
- Dust surface with cocoa powder and roll out dough to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Cut out desired shapes and place on baking sheet.
- Bake for 8-10 mins, until edges are just slightly browned.
- Cool completely on wire rack.
- Decorate as desired.
- I drizzled melted colored candy melts and white chocolate over mine.
